The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is all about building confidence, expanding experience, and unlocking new underwater adventures, all while diving and having fun.

This course is designed for certified Open Water Divers who want to improve buoyancy, navigation, depth awareness, and explore new types of diving. No exams, no classroom stress, just learning by doing.

Who can join?

• PADI Open Water Diver certified (or equivalent)

• Ages 15+ (or 12–14 for Junior Advanced Open Water)

• Comfortable in open water

• In good general health

How the Course Works

Learn at your own pace with PADI eLearning, then take your skills into the ocean.
You’ll complete five adventure dives, including Deep and Underwater Navigation, plus three specialty dives tailored to your interests and local conditions.

This course focuses on experience, confidence, and real-world diving skills.

Equipment

You’ll continue using essential scuba equipment, including:

• Mask, snorkel & fins

• Regulator

• Buoyancy Control Device (BCD)

• Tank & weights

You’ll need to purchase or rent your own personal gear:

• Mask

• Fins

• Snorkel

• Booties & gloves (scuba-quality)

• Wetsuit

Some specialty dives may require additional equipment (your instructor will review this with you ahead of time).

Adventure Dives

Your five dives typically include:

• 🌊 Deep Dive (required)

• 🧭 Underwater Navigation (required)

• 🌿 Additional adventure dives such as:

  • Peak Performance Buoyancy

  • Night Dive

  • Naturalist

  • Search & Recovery

Adventure dives may vary based on conditions and availability.

Open Water Training

Put your skills to the test at Southern California’s top dive sites.
With instructor guidance, you’ll gain confidence diving deeper, navigating underwater, and managing new environments, all while having fun.

Once completed, you’ll earn your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification, recognized worldwide.
